The numbers 7, 3, 5 mean of course fractions of ten, or subdivisions of the compass. The words 7 (metal) 3 (fire), for instance, mean that seven-tenths of this subdivision of the compass are ruled by the element metal, and three-tenths of the same space by the element fire. "
