The FIRST HEXAGRAM refers to the PRESENT ;
since it is supposed to shematize the actual situation, it should be connected to the question in mind at the moment of the drawing.

The SECOND HEXAGRAM refers to the FUTURE evolution of the actual situation.

The MUTABLE LINES refer to the ACTIONS you are supposed to adopt to change the present situation (symbolized by the first hexagram) into the potential future situation (symbolized by the second hexagram).
