Pi, présage heureux ; consulter le sort à plusieurs reprises pour d'assurer de la perfection absolue et durable ; pas de culpabilité. N'étant pas tranquille, commencer à venir ; pour l'homme robuste qui vient tard ; présage malheureux.

  Pi indicates that (under the conditions which it supposes) three is good fortune. But let (the principal party intended in it) re-examine himself, (as if) by divination, whether his virtue be great, unintermitting, and firm. If it be so, there will be no error. Those who have no rest will then come to him ; and with those who are (too) late in coming it will be ill.

Le commentaire de la formule symbolique dit : Sur la terre, il y a de l'eau : rapprochement (pi); les premiers rois agissent pour instituer tous les états, pour rapprocher les princes feudataires.

  (The trigram representing) the earth, and over it (that representing) water, form Pi. The ancient kings, in accordance with this, established the various states and maintained an affectionate relation to their princes.
